1. Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ed Truthan's FS2002 Environmental Water Effects Library (FSEWEL)
is a set of water textures that dramatically enhance the look and
feel of water in Flight Simulator. You will need to download (if
you have not already done so) FSEWEL in order to use this program.

You can find these files on a number of major download sites for
Flight Simulator. Do a search for OCEANSFX.ZIP and OCEANSTX.ZIP.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Installation instructions
--------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: While the installation can be done without the Visual Basic
6 runtime files, you will need to obtain and install these for the
actual program, if you have not already done so! You can find
these at various sites. At the time of writing this document, they
could be downloaded (among others) from here:

/VBRun60sp5.exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Extract this ZIP file to a temporary folder, start SETUP.EXE and
follow the instructions on screen. Once OceanFX has been installed,
you will need to set up the FSEWEL folders.

1. Extract the OCEANSFX.ZIP file to the OCEANFX\OCEANSFX folder
(make sure to extract using folder names).

2. Extract the OCEANSTX.ZIP file to the OCEANFX\OCEANSTX folder
(make sure to extract using folder names).

Unfortunately, the default effects and textures are zipped. You
will need to unzip these in order to be able to use them in
OceanFX.

3. Extract the OCEANFX\OCEANSFX\DEFAULT BACKUP\DEFAULT.ZIP to the
same folder.

+-----------------------------------------------------------------+
TIP: When extracting, type a single period (.) in the Extract
menu's textbox. This will extract all files to the same folder
as the zip is located in.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+

4. Extract the OCEANFX\OCEANSTX\DEFAULT BACKUP\DEFAULT.ZIP to the
same folder.

Please see the FOLSTRUC.GIF file for an overview of the folder
structure.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
3. How OceanFX works.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
After starting OceanFX, you will be presented with a single window.
It is here where you can select the appearance of the waves in
Flight Simulator.

NOTE: If you have Flight Simulator running, you will need to exit
and restart, in order to activate any changes. Simply reloading the
scenery will not work.

First-time Flight Simulator Folder setup:
-----------------------------------------
When you first start OceanFX, it will try to read the path to your
copy of Flight Simulator from the registry. This should normally
work without a problem. However, if the textbox remains empty or
gives your a wrong path, you will need to manually tell OceanFX
where Flight Simulator 2002 is located. Either type in the path
manually, or click the button at the end of the line to browse to
the folder. Make sure to select the root of the FS2002 folder.

The folder will be validated once you start the installation of the
waveset. If OceanFX was unable to find fs2002.exe in the selected
folder, it will cancel the installation and ask you to correct the
path.

To set up new wave visualization:
---------------------------------
1. Select a waveset from the dropdown box. If you select a set, the
picture on the left side of the windows will change, so you can
preview the selected waveset.

2. If you selected waveset 4, 5, 6 or 7, the selection circles will
be enabled. These wavesets show waves pushed by the wind. Use the
selection circles to specify the direction you wish to see the waves
coming from.

3. The texture selection consists of two dropdown boxes. The first
one determines the "swells" appearance, in terms of direction.
Select the direction that matches closest to the wave direction for
best results, or select default for the FS2002 default textures.
The second dropdownbox will enable you to put alternative textures
in. These might enhance the look in some parts of the FS world.

4. Click OK to install the new wave selection, or click Exit if you
wish to cancel the installation and quit the program.
