1/Introduction:
---------------

Thank you very much for downloading this Dornier 228 panel for Flight Simulator 2000 (both versions).
Since I had few documents (although I visited many sites and mailed to the Fairchild Dornier official website) there is certainly a few (or many) mistakes about the place of the instruments or the background bitmaps...
However if you own documentation about Do-228 please contact me, I will be very pleased to receive documentation about this aircraft.

The Dornier 228 is a very robust STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) plane. It is used by many insular airlines (Air Caledonie, Air Tahiti, Air Marshall Islands, Air Jamaica...)
Fairchild has stopped the production in Germany but the aircraft is still produced in India by Hindustan Aeronautics.

---------------
2/Installation:
---------------

*First you must have installed a Dornier 228 in FS 2000 : I recommend you the repaint of a Dornier 228 in Air Caledonie colours by Charles Perrin : The file (ac228yb.zip) is available on SurClaro .

*Then you have to unzip the zip files, with WinZip or other similar utility.

-Unzip the files of gauge.zip in your GAUGES directory of FS2000

-Unzip the files of sound.zip in the sound directory of FS2000 (not into the sound directory of your aircraft!).
You don't need to replace the sound files if you already have them.in

-Unzip the file Do228_CHECK.txt in your aircraft directory (The path is ...FS2000\AIRCRAFT\[Your Do-228 folder])

Then open and modify the "Aircraft.cfg" file, writing "Do228_CHECK" after the line "kb_checklists=".(You can open aircraft.cfg with the Windows Notepad).
If the line "kb_checklists=" is not present in your aircraft.cfg add it at the end of the [fltsim.0] part. (there is an example of aircraft.cfg in the zip.)

-Unzip panel.zip in the PANEL directory of the aircraft you want to use
(The path is ....FS2000\AIRCRAFT\[Your Do-228 folder]\panel)

Then your are ready to use the panel !

-------------------
3/Using the panel:
-------------------

To use the panel without troubles it is necessary to follow particular procedures at all times when you would like to fly with my work :

-First, before choosing the Do-228, select the Learjet and type Ctrl+E to start engines and systems.

-Then (when BOTH engines are started), you can select your Dornier 228: The engines will stop, it is normal.

-Finally type MAJ+M to shut off all the systems.
Now you can use the panel without problems, I think ;-)

Don't forget to follow the checklists (Type F10), because if you don't, you won't be able to start the aircraft ! (Again, I think the start procedure is not the most realistic, but I said before I didn't get such information as I wanted...)

-----------
4/Bugs :-((
-----------

I am sure that there are many bugs in the panel.
Although I tried to reduce the numbers of them, I couldn't delete all.

*The most important bug is a very disturbing one:
-Sometimes, when you open the overhead panel, the right engine might stop. Therefore you must follow this procedure to restart it:
1-Open the overhead panel
2-Put the right engine TURB switch ON then the FUEL and the IGNITION.

If nothing goes wrong, the engine will restart as usual. This procedure don't require more than 5 or 7 seconds and you will not risk a crash if you are a quite good pilot ;-).

*To avoid a complete breakdown for all systems, please be careful to resize the overhead panel BEFORE turning on the aircraft systems and DO NOT RESIZE it during or after the start procedure.
This is an other bug which is very disturbing :-(((((((((((.

All the other bugs are not very disturbing and if you succeed in solving them, I will be very pleased you to tell me how to do.

This panel wouldn't have been made without the very good designers' work.
Therefore I would like to thank sincerely these autors:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Matthias Lieberecht (Lieberecht@cw-net.de): The original panel designer:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-DragonflightDesign (DragonflightDesign@compuserve.com): Designer of many gauges, especially located on my overhead panel

-HGHB Virtual Instruments (Harald Geier: geier@hof.baynet.de & Helmut Busch: helmut.busch@hof.baynet.de , Hof,Germany): Designers of some gauges of the panel

-Paul Golding (paul.golding@btinternet.com) : Designer of some gauges of the panel.

-Eric Ernst (ew.ernst@verizon.net): Designer of the firehandles.

-Gier Olsen (gotto@enitel.no): Designer of Hydraulics Gauges

-Chris Koegler : Designer of the passengers signs

-FPDA (Freeware Panel Designers Association)

-Costas Botsios (cbo@tee.gr): Provider of some gauges

-David Durst (dpdurst@home.com)

I would like to thank sincerily all these people. Without them, making this panel would not have been possible and we have to encourage us to amke such a quality of gauges or work in general.

-------------
6/Conclusion:
-------------

I hope you will have some good flights with the panel although I hadn't got many documents to make a very good work. Moreover I apologize for all the bugs you can meet, however it is very difficult to solve them.
If you have additional documentation about the Do-228 or if you want to advise me about bugs, you can mail me at paflightsim@hotmail.com
I will be very pleased to receive your message !
