BOAC 707-420 for FS2004 and FS2002
==================================

By George Carty (GMAX visual model modified from 707-320B by Rok Dolenec)

About the 707-420
-----------------

The 707-420, which first flew in 1959, was a variant of the original 707-320 built for BOAC and operated by a few other airlines including Lufthansa, Air India and El Al. It was powered by Rolls-Royce Conway bypass turbojets, which were better than the Pratt & Whitney JT4A engines used on the 707-320s of the time - although they would later be themselves bettered by the JT3D turbofan. Due to British CAA certification requirements a ventral fin was fitted - on the later 707-320B Advanced a redesign of the wing rendered this unnecessary.

Features
--------

* BOAC 1960, 1965 and 1968 liveries included, along with British Airways 1975 livery
* Accurate 707 flight model ('heavy' elevators, realistic stall speeds)
* Pilot, co-pilot and flight engineer panels all available (Includes full fuel tank setup!)
* Includes sound set. The default 737-400 DOES NOT CUT IT!
* No unrealistic pop-up panel windows
* Checklist and speed table included in plain text (FS2002) and HTML (FS2004) formats. FS2004 supports full take-off and landing speed tables!

Installation
------------

To install, simply unzip into the main FS2004 or FS2002 directory. An HTML manual is included to explain the panel's operation - this is a complex panel, so please read this.

Flying tips
-----------

1. The 707-420 has only one leading edge flap per wing (the 707-320B Advanced has 3). This means it needs a LONG runway - at least 10,000 feet!

2. Watch your airspeed - this aircraft has no autothrottle to maintain speed and if engine thrust is left too high can easily overspeed on flap retraction.

Distribution etc
----------------

This aircraft is released under the terms of the GNU General Public Licence. C++ source code for the panel is available as 707PNSRC.ZIP and GMAX source code for the aircraft visual model is available as 707ACSRC.ZIP.
