by Dan French
daniel.french@insightbb.com

REQUIREMENTS:
This scenery requires The following free downloadable libraries to work well:

1. File: "page.zip" by Kevin Burns available free from SurClaro
2. EZ Scenery libraries (David Grindele's all-inclusive file available for free
download at SurClaro ez_1.zip)
3. Runway 12 libraries (SurClaro rw12l112.zip, rw12l212.zip, rw12l312.zip)

HISTORY:

The tiny town of Page, Arizona grew some with the construction of Glen Canyon Dam and the
development of Lake Powell starting in 1963.The small airport, without control tower, was
served by Bonanza Airlines with one flight each way connecting Page to Salt Lake City to
the north and Phoenix to the south via Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Prescott.Tom Gibson has
developed a great F-27A with Bonanza textures (available at California Classics
www.calclassic.com). While flying the route in the F-27A, I noted in default FS2004, the dam
sits hundreds of feet above the rim with two huge boulders marking its presence. I installed
Kevin Burns' great scenery add-on that helped a lot (plus it renovates the airport and adds
beautiful ground textures.) However, the unsightly lumps were still there, so cosmetic
surgery was required. With Kevin's permission and using FSTflatten and AFX I lowered the
canyon floor, raised Lake Powell, and added some roads. A new bridge and dam were downloaded
from Google Warehouse and converted to FS2004 via ModelConverterX. The visitor's center
was created with Google Sketchup using photos and Google Earth.

INSTALLATION:

1. Download the pageglencanyonFS2004.zip file to a temporary folder and extract all the files.
2. Place or copy the entire folder "Page and Glen Canyon AZ" into your FS2004/Addon Scenery folder.
3. Place or copy the entire folder "Static Objects Library" into the FS2004/Addon scenery folder.(If you already have
a static objects folder, the files should be copied to the respective scenery/ texture folders within it.
Click "yes" to overwrite any previous files).
4. Turn on Flight Simulator 2004
5. At the main menu, click on and open the SETTINGS button.
6. Under "Scenery" click on and open the "Scenery Library"
7. Click on "Add Area", then navigate to "Addon Scenery". Double click to open, select "Static Objects Library" folder,
and click the "OK" button.(You can skip this step if you already have an active Static Objects folder).
8. Repeat step 7, selecting the folder "Page and Glen Canyon AZ" and click OK.
9. At this point, the titles of both folders should appear in the "Area List" menu of Flight Simulator with a
red check mark in the "Enabled" column.
10. Use the "Move up" or "Move down" buttons to MAKE SURE the "Static Objects Libray" folder and EZ scenery/ Runway12
libraries are listed BELOW the "Page and Glen Canyon AZ" folder.
11. Click "OK" button and exit /close Flight Simulator. The next time you fly, the airport should be in place.
12. The sharp drop of the canyon walls seems to be dependent on the DISPLAY settings in Flight Simulator. For best
results,at startup of FS2004, click "SETTINGS", then "Display", then the first tab labelled "SCENERY". Set
Terrain mesh complexity to 100%,and terrain texture size "High".
13. IF you know how to modify the FS 2004 main cfg file it is additionally helpful to do the following:

a. Navigate to the FS9.cfg file (C:Documents and Settings/ username/ Application Data/ Microsoft/ FS9/ fs9.cfg
(I am using Windows XP. The pathway may be different for Vista or 7.)
b. About 1/3 down the long list under [TERRAIN], find TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL= and set value to 21. Save and exit.
