New Water Effects for FS9
This is my first offering to the FS World. It's a new set of water textures that really enhance the water world. After considerable mixing and matching, I stumbled upon this mix. I find it greatly enhances the FS Water. I have included 2 screenshots of the results in case anyone wants to know what the water looks like. Be warned though, your taste may differ from mine so always make a backup of your files before modifying anything.
1. Unzip the new_water_effects.zip using WinZip or something similar to a temporary directory of your choice.
2. You should now see 2 folders called scenery and textures along with this read-me and 2 screenshots.
3. Copy the file OceanHeightField.bmp from the texture folder to the root Texture folder of FS9. Ex: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Texture Of course, this is my directory, yours should be something similar.
4. Copy the files from the scenery-world-texture folder and place them in the Scenery\world\texture folder in the FS9 directory. Ex:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\world\texture Again, this is what my directory looks like, and yours should be something similar.
5. That's it!!! Now go fire up FS9 and go to someplace that has water. You should now have enhanced water. I find that these textures work best with your water texture slider set to high.
