FS2004/FS2002 Britten Norman BN-2 Islander Loganair G-BLDV

This is a repaint of a BN-2B-26 Islander G-BLDV (cn 2179) operating for Loganair, Scotland. The hybrid livery reflects Loganair's partnership franchise with British Airways. G-BLDV carries the Scottish Ambulance Service Crest as she is used primarily for medical and ambulance flights within the Scottish highlands and islands.

Marcel Kuhnt's wonderful Britten Norman Islander, which is required, is available in many variations for FS2002/FS2004 at www.m-r-software.de

This repaint, with kind permission from Marcel, is by Mark Beaumont. Marcel's work for the Britten Norman Islander is so accurate that it is important that you read the installation instructions carefully so as to ensure that you have the appropriate model configuration for this paint. Installation is not complex, but must be done correctly to get the most from his packages. READ his manual, too; there are all sorts of goodies hidden away in his aircraft, from configurable passengers to an animated mechanic and push back truck! The aircraft come with specific panels for the BN2-A and BN2-B, with full VCs and 3D interiors.

I have chosen to save the main texture file as a 32-bit image for best quality in FS. There is only one main exterior file, so your texture loading or frame rate should not be compromised.

Installation
============

If you have not downloaded them already, you will need the base files for this repaint.

1. Go to www.m-r-software.de and click on 'BN-2 Islander' in your preferred language.

2. Download and install:

BN32Rest.zip - manual, basic files, panels, gauges, cockpit sounds
BN32Snd2.zip - soundset for 2 bladed props
DIFLN32G.zip - BN-2B base model

Please follow Marcel's installation instructions carefully as found in his README file.

3. To install your Loganair Islander, unzip loganbn.zip to a temporary folder/location (you may have done this already).

4. In the download you will find the folder BN-2B_3. This corresponds to a folder that should already exist in your 'Flight Simulator 9/AIRCRAFT' folder if you have installed the above base sets correctly. Either simply move this folder to Flight Simulator 9/AIRCRAFT' and allow overwriting when prompted (no files are actually overwritten, just added) or open the folder individually and move the contents (a texture folder and an .ini file) to the relevant individual parent folder under 'Flight Simulator 9/AIRCRAFT'.

5. To install your new repaint, you must then run BN_Instal.exe in the 'BN-2B_3' aircraft folder. The AIRCRAFT.CFG file will be updated automatically.

6. In the folder BN-2 Panel, there is an optional modification for the existing BN-2B panel. I have updated the FS2002 GPS to the FS9 Garmin 295 and have modified the forward view perspective to cover a 'blank' area in the left field of vision.

Back up Marcel's respective PANEL.CFG file if you wish to before making any changes to your original panel. I have tested these alterations and they work fine for me, but I emphasise that this is an optional install and is by no means official, although it is supplied with Marcel's permission.

Other files

This repaint was inspired by all the wonderful Scottish scenery that is available, both as freeware and payware, for Flight Simulator today. There are too many to list here but suffice to say that you can enjoy them far more flying a Loganair Islander than you can from an Airbus at 36,000 feet!

Enjoy your Loganair Islander! Marcel's soundsets are astonishing; if you don't get a tingle down your spine when you push the throttle levers forward, I'll be very surprised!
