Newburgh Stewart International KSWF V1.0

Newburgh, NY's Stewart International Airport. Scenery includes gates, static aircraft and ground vehicles, custom buildings intergeated into FS2002's default buildings when set to high density. You'll find a nice terminal with a start location at one of the two gates, a maintenance hangar and offices for WWAL, an FBO, fire station, 105th Airlift Sqdrn, Army helicopters, and other eye candy. Includes a lite file with no static aircraft for those who perfer not to use them. Also incudes a radio navigation course to test your skill, with floating targets to confirm checkpoints. Uses NOVA textures, a freeware download.

Here you will find a near representation of this airport, buildings and organizations about where they are in real life. This includes a terminal with two jetways (where they really are, not where MS put them), ground vehicles including belt loaders, lavatory trucks, cargo loaders, tugs and towbars, Follow Me and fuel trucks, static civil aircraft and hangars, an FBO, and a fire station. Also represented is the ANG's 105th Airlift Sdrn with C-141's on the ramp (they use C-5's in real life, but this was as close as I could get, sorry) and a couple of visiting A-10's, an Amry helipad and parking for Apache helicopters, and the USMC hangar where they are in real life, including authentic signage (National Security concerns prevent a completely accurate representation of US Military installations). WWAL has a small maintenance facility here with an office building.

This scenery was made for a few friends at WWAL's KJFK hub, which flies into this airport. Now Harry won't have to drive so far to get to work. See them at www.iflywestwind.com.

Installation instructions at the bottom of this document. I recommend you read them before writing me to tell me my scenery is broken.

Radio Navigation Exercise:

This package includes four floating checkpoint targets at various points. This is designed to test your VOR and NDB skills, a GPS won't work here. If you fly this correctly, you will be rewared with a target of a rectangular WWAL logo appearing right ahead of you about 2 NM away, then you should fly right through the middle of the target head on before turning to your next target. If you miss one target the remaining ones will be much harder to find. Good luck! By the way, the first target is right over a VOR and is easy to find. This one is designed to show you what the targets look like and verify you have it loaded.

1. Take off from KSWF, fly east, climb and maintain 5000 ft.

2. Intercept the CMK VOR (116.60 MHZ) R340, then fly that radial inbound to the VOR. This is the location of Checkpoint #1.

3. Continue heading, climb and maintain 8000 ft. Intercept and fly inbound on the HP NDB (281 kHz) R080. Cross over the NDB can continue this heading until you intercept the intersection of IGN VOR (117.60 MHZ) R210 and MG NDB (353 kHz) R175. This is Checkpoint #2.

4. Descend and maintain 6000 ft. Continue heading until you intercept the SBJ VOR (117.90 MHz) R040 inbound that radial to DME 5. This is the location of Checkpoint #3.

5. Turn left heading 060 (yes, the long way around), climb and maintain 12,000 ft. Intercept and fly inbound on the HUD VOR (116.10 MHz) R165 to DME 14, then turn left heading 290 to the intersection of STW VOR (109.60 MHz) R360 and LHY VOR (110.80 MHz) R128. This is the location of Checkpoint #4.

6. Return to KSWF. If you use Rwy 09, watch for the deer on the left side of the approach end of the runway.

Hope you enjoyed it. If you did, drop me a line and tell me about it. If you couldn't find any and don't believe I put it there, send me a note and I'll give you the coordinates.

Installation:

Make a new folder called KSWF. Under that, make two folders, named Scenery and Texture.

FS2002/scenery/KSWF/Scenery
and
FS2002/scenery/KSWF/Texture

All .bgl files (except Novalib.bgl, see below) go into Scenery subfolder and all the rest go into the Texture folder.

NOTE ****** If you do not want static aircraft, replace the file under the KSWF/scenery folder named KSWF.bgl with the one named KSWF_Lite.bgl found in the KSWF/Scenery_Lite folder. ************

ANOTHER NOTE ************ If you arent interested in the radio navigation exercise targets, delete the four files named KSWF_CPx.bgl, where x = 1-4 in the KSWF/scenery folder. ***********************

Start FS and go into your scenery library menu and add and activate this scenery.

YET ANOTHER NOTE *********** This scenery was integrated into the FS2002 default buildings when the complexity slider is set is Very Dense or higher. if your PC doesn't handle that level very well it also won't handle this scenery very well. ********

Minimize FS and open the scenery.cfg file found in the main FS2002 directory with a text editor. Scroll to the bottom and locate the Gray_AAF scenery entry.
