Here's my version of an Atkinson AJ2 amphibious jet for FS2004. To
install, simply unzip the ZIP file into the main subfolder of FS2004 (where
the FS9.EXE file resides). In that way, the custom gauges will be placed
automatically in the correct subfolder. DO NOT unzip the package into the
\AIRCRAFT subfolder of FS2004, and be sure to duplicate the original folder
structure when unzipping.
NOTE: Some joysticks and yokes seem to have trouble with the automatic
elevator trim. If you experience "porpoising" of the aircraft, especially
with the autopilot on, try turning off the auto trim. This is accomplished
by clicking the small green bar-shaped light above the trim indicator.
PILOTING TIPS: The AJ2 has a very efficient wing which gives it a very
slow stall speed (about 55 knots with full flaps). The same wing
characteristics, however, create "ground effects," causing it to "float"
somewhat on final flare. To set down on those short strips and small ponds,
you may need to bring her down almost to stall speed and apply some
last-second spoiler.
