Boeing YB-17 (1937)

The YB-17 was the first production version of what was to become the famed "Flying Fortress" of WW2. Thirteen were built and they were assigned to the second Bomber Group at Langley Field starting in 1937. This FSDS project has the usual animations, transparent windows and alpha channel reflective surfaces. The 2D panel and sound file are originally from Oscar Everitt's excellent FS98 "Memphis Belle". I changed the sound file .cfg to the FS8/FS9 format. I included a minimal VC (I am still not sold on these things) mainly so the wings would show in the 2D panel view. Most of the VC gauges do operate. This plane was created with FSDSv2.24 and was compiled directly into FS2004. I have not tried it in any other sim.

INSTALLATION: Unzip YB17.zip into a temporary folder. Copy the folder Boeing YB-17 into the Aircraft folder of FS2004.. Open the gauges folder and copy the contents into the Gauges folder of FS2004. Close everything and fire up the simulator. This plane should show in the aircraft selection list as YB17.

LEGAL: This project is released as freeware. You may modify it, repaint it, etc., upload to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need my written permission to use any of these files for commercial purposes; otherwise just give me credit for the original design. This airplane should not hurt your computer but I am not responsible if it causes problems.

Enjoy! Paul Clawson
