This is my first upload - be nice.

Enclosed are two AFCAD files for Saipan International Airport on the island of Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. You must have AFCAD (I use 1.3.1.0) by Lee Swordy © 2002 to load these files.

=========================================================================

PGSN_D.TXT is for the default MS FS2002 scenery

=========================================================================

PGSN_A.TXT is for the Add-on Scenery by Bill Melichar released recently.

SAIPAN.ZIP - available on SurClaro and other sites

Some gates and parking have been adjusted to avoid conflict with the static display aircraft (KAL 767 at east of terminal, NW727 and JAL 747 near hangers). The gates are also placed so that if you do not use the static aircraft, there will not be any big holes in the airport parking. The enclosed JPG files were all taken with Bill's wonderful scenery.

==========================================================================

I cannot locate a terminal map for this airport - and I haven't been there since 1985 - so the gate numbers are my best guess.

===========================================================================

Gates 1 & 2 are setup for 747 heavy aircraft, Gate 6 for 767, Gates 3 & 4 for 737 sized aircraft.

There is a heavy cargo spot for a 747 cargo bird.

Gate/Parking 5 is setup for the Shorts SD3-60-200 of Pacific Island Aviation (ICAO code PSA, call sign Pacific Isle) The Northwest Airlink carrier in the islands.

There are two reduced radius parking spots for the other two Shorts aircraft. For GA there are three small, three medium and two large parking spots.

============================================================================

I've eliminated the taxiway link between the GA area and the main terminal because it seems obvious to me that the airport would not normally allow GA aircraft to taxi across the commercial ramp on the way to runway 7. Unfortunately FS uses the shortest route and tries to taxi the GA aircraft through the middle of the heavy jets.

============================================================================

Pacific Island Avaition has three Shorts SD3-60-200 aircraft in a 30 seat configuration operating from their base on Saipan. The airline is the Northwest Airlink partner for Saipan - Guam with about a dozen departures daily from Saipan to Guam and Rota. On weekends, PIA has flights to West Tinian from Guam and Saipan.

I've setup the airport for AI traffic, with 747/767 flights several days a week from Japan and Korea by Northwest, JAL, Asiana and possible KAL (recent AI schedules seem to indicate KAL has stopped flying to Saipan).

Continental Micronesia operates several 737 and 767 flights daily to Saipan from Japan and Guam.

============================================================================

I hope to have my repaints of Barry Blaisdell's Premaircraft Shorts 360 in PIA / NW Airlink colors and the AI schedule out in a few days, along with AFCAD files for West Tinian and Rota. I am also working on EditVoicePack files for Pacific Isle, West Tinian and Rota.

PGSN_Orig.TXT is the original default MS FS2002 layout for Saipan in case you don't like my modifications.
