Brentwood STOLport - EGBX
=====================

Brentwood is a new small airport in Essex in the south of England. It's located just within and next to the M25 London orbital motorway a few miles north of the Dartford Crossing, so communications and access for the huge, lucrative market in London and the South-east are excellent.

Brentwood is a STOLport with a 1620 metre runway 04-22 with LOC/DME/GS on both approaches. Frequencies are 111.5 (Rwy 04) and 111.7 (Rwy 22). There is also an NDB on the field (Frq 237 MHz). The field's Comms frequencies are Ground 121.75 MHz and Tower 118.55 MHz.

Brentwood boasts a small terminal with 2 Medium gates so aircraft up to Airbus A320/Boeing 737 size can be handled with ease. Other Heavy and Commercial GA parking (sorry - private light aircraft STRICTLY PPO) is on open stands. And there are 2 helipads.

Local services include a well-appointed motel (with pool) close by and a shopping mall straddling the M25 not far from the hotel.

Oh, by the way, Brentwood is fictional. In real life it could go where it is as there is ample space for it on what is fairly poor quality land. However, at the time of writing there are plans afoot to turn Southend into a similar sort of airfield. Trouble is, road access to Southend is abysmal and London is 48 minutes away by train.

Will they ever learn!

The whole thing is created almost entirely in pure XML using all default library objects. I started coding by hand, then began using AFCAD (thanks to Lee Swordy) but ended up doing almost everything in ScenGenX with hand-coding of various objects that are not included in the ScenGenX library.

SceneGenX is by Tom Hiscox. It is well on the way to being THE definitive XML scenery creation tool and is definitely the best and most advanced method for programming scenery using the XML Scenery SDK. Thanks to Tom for all the fantastic work he has put into it.

BRENTWOOD-EGBX IS FOR FS2004 ONLY.

Installation
============

Copy and paste the aircraft folders contained in AIRCRAFT intact with their contents into your FS2004 AIRCRAFT folder. They are AI aircraft ONLY and will not show up as flyable planes.

Copy and paste the Brentwood_EGBX folder intact with its contents into your FS2004/ADDON SCENERY folder. When you next start FS2004, activate the scenery in the usual way.

Copy the effects file contained in EFFECTS into your main FS2004 EFFECTS folder. This is a flashing beacon and will do no harm. It can easily be deleted at any time if you do not like the scenery!

Open up and look inside the TTOOLS folder. There are 3 sub-folders called airports, aircraft and flightplans. The contents will be familiar to existing users of TTools. If you do not recognise them, leave them alone, learn about TTools and then install and use them.

You will need various PAI aircraft to make some of the flightplans work (ie for all of the passenger heavies) and details of these are included. If you are already an AI fan you will already know how to set things up so you won't need me to tell you.

If you are not already using TTools, remember that AI traffic is the making of any airport scenery. I am sorry, but I just don't have the time to respond to queries about making AI flightplans work. There are so many variables. These plans have all been tested and work fine. Check the AFCAD and TTools forum on Simviation if you have problems.

Acknowledgements and Thanks
=======================

Tom Hiscox for Airport and SceneGenX
PAI for AI traffic
Marcel Kuhnt and Nico Hoffmann for their Trislander
Rey Lopex for his Cessna 310
Steve Pilkington and J. Lucariny for their Piper Seneca

At the time of uploading, Messrs Lopez and Lucariny had replied to my emails giving permission for me to use their aircraft. Unfortunately, despite sending two emails to Marcel Kuhnt at marcel@m-r-software.de, he had not. However, as the basic aircraft is unmodified from his original, I have included it anyway and if he reads this, I hope he will contact me should this pose a problem.
