METROLINER OPTIONAL PANEL

Thanks for downloading. I think you will like this panel if you find the original a bit constraining to outside visibility.

INSTALLATION:

Unzip to a temporary folder.

1. FIRST, rename your Metroliner's original Panel folder and aircraft.cfg file to keep the original versions intact.

2. Copy or move all files in the enclosed Gauges folder into your main FS9 Gauges folder. Many of these could be duplicates and you do not have to overwrite any that you already have. Note that ".cab" files appear zipped, and DO NOT unzip these, they get copied as-is.

3. Copy or move the enclosed Panel folder and the enclosed aircraft.cfg file into your Metroliner aircraft folder.

4. The enclosed Sound folder simply contains a different Sound.cfg file which aliases sound to the KingAir instead of the original's aliasing to the LearJet. Changing this is purely optional... We are looking for a good sound set for the Metroliner, and if anyone comes across one please let me know!

PLEASE NOTE that the enclosed panel is purely an optional installation. This was constructed in order to improve outside visibility and originally for virtual airline Shavron Air, as so many of Shavron's Metroliner destinations are strictly VFR airports. The enclosed aircraft.cfg file was modified only to provide a RADIOS section appropriate for using the Bendix multi-radio included.

In the flight simulator environment you only have a monitor with which to see the outside world, and I wanted to present an alternative which would address that constriction. In addition, I have provided a wind indicator, a radio altimeter, a fuel computer, and individual fuel cutoffs and throttles on the main panel for mouse-accessible individual engine control. These additions are not part of the original, but you may find them very useful if not necessary for dealing with tough approaches to tiny airports where no navaids and no weather advisory frequency is available.

This gets to be a sensitive topic with some original designers, as this optional panel departs somewhat from the true Metroliner layout. This is not intended to be a realistic Metroliner representation! As such it is made available strictly as an optional addition.

My thanks go to the original Metroliner designer and panel creator for furnishing a terrific original.

If you would like to visit a virtual airline site where the fabulous Metroliner is used to the very edge of it's operating envelope, please go to www.e-fabrica.com.
