The model M1000A PFD is a concept Primary Flight Display intended for Microsoft Flight Simulator X 2-D Panels. This gauge is a full featured PFD with integrated Radar Altimeter, Vertical Speed Indicator and Autopilot. All bitmaps and programming are original and unique and not intended to reflect a real world product. All functions are controlled as if the unit was Touch screen controlled using Mouse Clicks.
Simply unzip the downloaded file into a folder of your choice and copy and paste the file MK_PFD.cab file into your root Microsoft Flight Simulator X/ Gauges folder. Next edit the desired aircraft panel.cfg file to use this gauge using a text editor or the highly recommended FS Panel Studio software that can be found on the Internet. This gauge size is 320 pixels wide by 620 pixels high. It is not within the scope of this project to go into any detail on panel editing and it is assumed the user of this software will already have that knowledge.
This product was created using the ACE program that came with the Flight Sim X SDK for the programming and Paint, Gimp and MS Publisher for the Bitmaps and artwork. I used the freeware program CABPACK.exe to compile everything into a .cab file. This is my first attempt at gauge programming and has been very challenging and time consuming so some bugs may exist and take some time before fixed. I plan on creating a companion MFD gauge compatible with light single and twin piston and turboprop aircraft whenever time permits. This is an XML Gauge with many elements (where possible) vector drawn to improve frame rates and reduce file size. Widescreen higher resolution monitors (19 inch or larger) and faster PC systems are recommended though lesser system can be used.
Below are the various functions of this product:
1. Unique graphical Radar Altimeter with Decision Height setpoint bar.
2. Unique graphical Vertical Speed Indicator with Up/Down setpoint bars.
3. Integrated Full Function Autopilot (blanked when not in use). Speed button bug has been fixed.
4. Slim design to save Panel space for home designed panels and better VFR visibility.
5. Integrated VOR, ID, DME, OAT and BAR readbacks.
6. Dimmed ADI Ball behind Speed and Altimeter tapes.
7. Airspeed, Altitude, Course, Heading Bugs and setpoints and Nav 1/GPS or Nav 2/ADF Indicators.
8. Yaw, Glideslope, Course Deviation, Flight Director, To/ From and OMI Indicators
9. Stall, GPWS and Overspeed warnings (functionality limited to Flight Simulator X capabilities).
10. Touchscreen Buttons and +/- Setpoints for full functionality
Future Upgrades and Notices:
1. Speed V Ref Bugs and Barber Poles
2. Radar Altimeter Glideslope Beam Indicator (concept).
3. Improvements on GPWS, Overspeed and Stall Alerts over stock FSX.
4. User Suggestions for improvements or major bug fixes. Not a whole lot can be added without causing excess clutter.
