KATT Austin Mueller Municipal Airport Circa 1961
FS2004

A little of history:

Robert Mueller Municipal Airport served the Austin, Tx. area since mid 1930's, on 1960 the airport opened its new
"jet age" passenger terminal to replace a much older building. At the inauguration date, it had a total of 5
gates, a fence gate to go through to board the aircraft, observation deck and much modern building hosting all
facilities such as ticketing area, baggage claims, restaurant and gift shop, but the most notable feature of the
building, was the control tower, a graceful, curved structure paneled in blue & white, with the cab at the top.

the principal air carriers serving Austin were Braniff, Continental & Trans Texas

During the 1970s, Austin's municipal airport became crowded and noise complaints increased from residents of the
lower-income housing subdivisions built in the flight path, Mueller airport was finally closed on 1999, all
operations were transferred to the recently closed Bergstrom AFB, now called Austin Bergstrom International Airport.

After it's closure, Mueller Airport area has been re-developed as a neighborhood complex, some hangars and few pieces of the
runways and taxiways are still there, rest of the passenger terminal was demolished, except the control tower,
which will be kept as a memorial to the airport.

I have produced this scenery to represent Austin Mueller Airport on it's very early days as a "jet age" terminal,
based on postcards, photos and diagrams. I have included a custom made terminal building, control tower, fence
boarding gate and entry monument, plus a detailed parking area, cargo area, general aviation hangars and terminals
using a variety of library objects.

Special Thanks to Tom Gibson and Jesse Cochran, for extensive coaching and test flying of this scenery.

AI propliner traffic matching this scenery is available separately from
www.calclassic.com (AI Aircraft page).

This scenery uses the Rwy12 Static Objects Library and other 3rd party libraries. These
files need to be downloaded and installed separately (see below).

Produced using AFCAD2, by Lee Swordy, EOD by Matthias Brückner, ExcBuilder by
Paavo Pihelgas and EZ-Scenery by Konstantin Kukushkin - thanks to all!

PLEASE NOTE:

A. The CalClassic Core, CalClassic Landclass, and Static Objects Library scenery layers
should also be active when you activate this scenery. You never need to disable the
Static Objects Library layer in any case.

B. The CalClassic Core layer MUST BE LAYERED BELOW all other Classic Scenery packages (except
Munich Riem) in the Scenery Library! Display problems may result if not properly layered.

C. We expect that if you have already installed the Classic Scenery Library it is
in the usual location (FS2004/Addon Scenery/Static Objects Library). If not, plese download and install the
combined Classic Scenery Libraries, found at SurClaro (175 MB):

classic_libraries.zip http://www.SurClaro/kdl.php?fid=150800

NOTE: If you keep your scenery object library files in a folder name different from
Static Objects Library, copy the files to that folder after installation.
