Installation instructions for Cougar, WA Airport WN10

Although not required for this airport enhancement, I strongly urge you to download and install "Mshscenery_fix.zip" by Steven Rosenow from SurClaro.com. In my humble opinion, this is the best rendition of Mt. St. Helens currently available. This is one mountain that bears watching - Steven says there are more enhancements in the works!

These installation instructions are divided into two parts - one for those who DO have the RWY12 program and all current library addons installed and one for those who do NOT have the program installed. Select whichever method meets your situation.

I don't have the RWY12 program -

Simply copy the "Cougar, WA Airport WN10" folder to your addon scenery directory and activate it as you would any scenery addition.

The Afcad is in this folder so do not do anything with any other folders you see.

I DO have RWY12 installed -

a. Copy the AF2_WN10.bgl which is in the AFCAD folder, to wherever you normally keep your afcads. For most folks this is in addon scenery/scenery.

b. Copy the Opa_WN10.BGL file which is in the Cougar, WA Airport WN10\Scenery folder and place it in your Static Objects Library/Scenery folder. That way you will not need to make a separate scenery entry for this airport.

c. Review the other BGL files in the Cougar, WA Airport WN10\Scenery folder and compare them with the BGL's in your Static Objects Library/Scenery folder.

(add_SeevKahn.BGL - add_Todd_Lucas_Objects.BGL - add_Todd_Lucas_Tents.BGL etc. etc.)

You should (if you have been adding libraries as they became available) have all of them with the possible exception of "add_lenshanger_1.bgl". This is a fairly new library and I don't believe it has been uploaded to Avsim. It is available from

http://www.lenshanger.co.uk/loband/lowindex.htm

All other RWY12 library additions are available from SurClaro.com

Note: Nothing need be done with the Cougar, WA Airport WN10\Texture folder.

d. Assuming you have all of the BGL's installed, and all of the RWY12 Library updates installed, just restart FS and select Mount St. Helens Aero Park, Cougar, Washington - WN10 - as your airport.

NOTE: The XML file has been included if you wish to tweak the airport further. It is not needed however, to have the scenery function.

LAGO: If you have the LAGO program copy the Opa_WN10.SE2 file to your LAGO\FSE\Data folder. This adds a few animals to the scenery.

WHERE IS IT ?

Now for the fun part. After exploring the airport, take off in your favorite GA aircraft from runway 7. After takeoff, turn left and fly on a heading of approx. 360 degrees (North).

As you gain altitude you will see Mt. St. Helens directly in front of you. Fly around to the Northern side to view what is left of that side of the mountain and if you have installed Steven Rosenow's fine scenery also, you will occasionally see steam rising from a steam vent.

After throughly examining the mountain you can return to the Cougar Airport or continue on Northwest to the airport at Randle. (Randle-Kiowa Airpark) This small GA airfield has been enhanced by Mr. Rosenow.

Enjoy!

As usual, the scenery is FREEWARE. It has been tested on my machine and works well. The author is not responsible for any real or perceived problems on yours.
