description=The first DC10 Series 10 flight took place on August 29, 1970. FAA certification was received July 29th, 1971, with initial delivery to launch customers American and United that same month. First revenue flight was by American Airlines (N101AA) on August 5th, 1971. Designed as a medium range transport, a total of 131 Series 10s were produced, including 9 Series 10CF (Convertible Frieghters) which were first delivered in 1973.
