This is a FS9 panel enhancement for the Kirk Olsson's F-86 Sabre "Hard wing" model made over the enhanced original bitmaps and VC adjustements. Also, aircraft config retunning, including autocontrails, two coloured smoke trails switchable from the 2D panel.Full IFR capabilities.

This panel edition is meant to enhance the fabulous Kirk Olsson's F-86 Sabre and improve the pleasure of flying this beautiful airplane.

Along with the panel, a new aircraft.cfg file for the "gmaxf86" Hard wing model is provided. In that configuration file, toe brake strengh was slightly increased, new and improved touchdown smoke added, Wheight loadouts , Strobe lights, Auto wingtip contrails at +2G, jet exhaust and two colour coloured (blue and red) smoke added.

For the panel operation, please refer to the instructions shots provided in this pack.

We used the original Kirk Olsson's main panel bitmap but deeply enhanced and retouched, to match, both the original VC panel and the real plane (believed to be a D type). Virtual cockpit was also upgraded with the new gauges.

Finnaly, we would like to thank (its never enough) all the fantastic gauge designers that make all these panel layouts possible... without them we would have to fly the dull and unreal FS9 default panels...., thank you again, all you guys!!

Another panel for the gmaxf86a Slated wing model is beeing prepared for uploading with a slightly modernized cockpit. It'll be available very shortly...

Ok! now let's get on with the instalation:

Unzip all the contents of the zip files to a temporary folder

You'll end with a panel's, a Gauge's, an effects and a module's folders plus a few loose files....

1- Copy & Paste or Drag & Drop or Move the panel folder, containing the bitmaps and the panel.cfg file from here to the gmaxF86 folder after backing up the panel you have (of course), you might not like this layout. Or simply rename your panel folder, Ex: panel.old

2- Copy & Paste or Drag & Drop or Move the gauge's folder contents to your FS9 Main gauges folder, overwrite when prompted.(Do not unzip the cab files enclosed in the gauges folder... they work like that, and do not extract gauges from folders enclosed in the zip main gauges folder, they work like that also.), again, don't forget to backup your F-86 original gauges for some of them heve been reworked to look differently.

3- Now, Copy & Paste or Drag & Drop or Move the effects's folder contents to your FS9 Main effects folder, no need to overwrite when prompted.

4- Copy & Paste or Drag & Drop or Move the module's folder contents (FSsound.DLL and SOARRec.dll) (it seems that SOARRec.dll is sometimes unnecessary so, you can try not installing it at first) to your FS9 Main modules folder. Do not overwrite if prompted, your version might be newer than this one.

Finally, to avoid recieving an error box when loading FS9 you should add this little something to your FS9.config file after doing the usual backup for safety;

For the Windows 2000 you should find the main FS9 config file under the path:

C\Documents and settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Fs9.config

for the windows XP users, the path should be:

Drive_Letter:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9.
This is a hidden folder by default so you need to modify the folder options via the control panel: go to the view tab and check the "Show hidden files and folders" option

Open the file with notepad and add the following lines to it's very beggining

[OLDMODULES]
FSsound.dll=1
SOARRec.dll=1

Save and close

Now, the aircraft config file modifications....
Once I also thought it to be a big deal... well, it's not and it goes like this:

1- make a backup copy of your original gmaxf86 "aircraft.cfg" file
2- If you don't have new texture addons, simply replace the original config with the one provided in this zip
3- If you do have new texture addons, simply copy all your entries and replace the exixting ones in the aircraft.cfg file provided in this zip

save and close...

Almost there.... now, just the final detail, new FS9 gauges use a special DLL file in order to add sound already enclosed in the gauge code.....

In the root folder of this package you'll find a DLL file called "GaugeSound.dll" Copy & Paste or Drag & Drop or Move this file to your FS9 root directory, no need to overwrite if prompted unless the suplied DLL is more recent then yours.

This is it.....
Hope you like the layout and enjoy it as much as we do, along with this magnificent F-86 Sabreflight model by KirK Olsson....
Please indulge our team for any errors and do report them to us at the enclosed e-mail adresses....
Thank you all for flying with us!!!

Start up FS9

Go, fly and enjoy!
