Douglas DC-5 Pilot's Handling Notes
***********************************
The two 900hp Wright Cyclone G102A engines have manual mixture controls, and are carburetted with manually applied carb heat controls. They are modestly supercharged to give rated power up to 6700 feet. 1100hp is available for take off at low altitude.
Unless you have real life experience of controlling the mixture of aero engines selection of automixture control from the realism screen before flight is strongly recommended. Use of automixture is assumed in these handling notes.
AVOID - running Cyclone engines undersquare
This aircraft is loaded with the maximum allowable 550 USG (3300lbs) of AVGAS. Passenger load is therefore restricted to 10 passengers plus bags. For flights of less than two hours duration 200 USG (1200lbs) of the default fuel must be removed before flight using the FS9 fuel and payload menu to comply with the landing weight restiction which is 18,300lbs. Payload may NOT be added in lieu. See aircraft.cfg for futher details.
This aircraft is unpressurised and has no oxygen supply for crew or passengers. Design cruise altitude is FL100. Altitude changes > 700 VSI should be avoided.
