description = FS2004 MARTIN MARIETTA X-24A Lifting Body Research X-Plane from '60's -'70's. Built and flown to research re-entry spaceplane aerodynamics, and flight behaviour. The X-24A, along with the  X-24B, HL-10, and M2-F series, provided valuable data for the Space Shuttle Program.These planes created lift from their flat fuselage bottoms an end fins, and were lifted aloft by NASA NB-52's to fly under rocket power, then gliding back to a runway. The X-24A, and it's stablemates, explored the lower end of the re-entry flight profile. The X-23 PRIME program explored the hypersonic and re-entry end of the re-entry profile.
