FS2002 Pro Grumman F-14A Tomcat, AD-101, VF-101 "Grim Reapers" TPS Grey U.S.Navy 1995

*******************************************************************************************

TO WORK PROPERLY, THIS PLANE REQUIRES GAUGES FROM F14A2002.zip

Installation:
This plane is intended to be flown using the virtual cockpit in VFR conditions, therefore
the first thing to do is increase the pan rate in fs2002, to have a quicker
response while you move the point of view. You can do this by opening the fs2000.cfg
and finding the line that says PAN_RATE=400. Increase it to at least 900 and save the file.
Now unzip the TomcatVR.zip file into your MAIN fs2002 directory and everything
should go to the proper folders.

WARNING:
The flight model attached (by John J Schumacher) is intentionally set to allow carrier operations in
Fs2002, so:
- The accelleration is boosted so that you can take-off in less than 200 meters (real Tomcat requires 750 meters minimum run).
- The aircraft has "superspoilers". This means that if you hit the spoiler key you will have an immediate arrest (even when flying!).
Since the release of "Arrestor Cables" 2.0 (freeware) this is no more necessary...If I can find the time I'll release a reworked flight model.

NOTE-1:
This plane is intended to be flown with the 3D virtual cockpit,
therefore this aircraft use only virtual instruments rather than
the traditional picture instrument panels, so in order to fully enjoy
this experience you should make sure that the "Hat Switch" on your stick
or yoke is set up to pan in all directions.

NOTE-2:
This plane requires a lot of system resources, so the suggested minimums
to play with the "turkey" are:
- 500 Mhz Processor
- 128Mb Ram
- A 3D card with at least 32MB of VRAM

Known problems (I'm working to fix):

- No virtual cockpit night lighting (help?)

Also M++ / or SHIFT+F4 or E are occasionally required if the engine is not working as you
lad the plane. Also keyboard shortcuts are required to change COM/NAV/Squawk frequiencies
from the virtual cockpit (see Fs2k documentation).

LAST but not least, as usual for carrier-based jets, pressing the "/" key (Spoilers) will cause
immediate arrest of the plane. This is intened to allow carrier landings, so you have to hit the spoler
key as soon as you touch the deck. Also, flap keys (F5-F8) control the wing sweep (only two positions
allowed).
