Boeing 247D Pilot's Handling Notes
**********************************

SUMMARY.

The latest D model 247 has two 550hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340-S1H1-G Wasp engines which are geared, carburetted and supercharged to give rated power up to 8000 feet. Controllable pitch propellers have been introduced to reduce cabin noise and improve crusing efficiency at all altitudes. These new airscrews can be feathered and greatly increase safety following an engine failure.

Maximum and normal fuel load is 273 US gallons of which 70 gallons are to be retained as an IFR reserve and 3 gallons are unusable.

For passenger comfort operation above FL120 should be restricted to 30 minutes per flight.

This aircraft is fited with the optional Sperry autopilot.
