  FS2004 Aircraft: Nick’s Space Shuttle Landing Challenge UPDATE to v1.2 This final update for my space shuttle package provides some minor changes to the shuttles flight and landing dynamics allowing correct performance in changing weather conditions AND you may now select the sensitivity of the main landing gear struts (less crashes) for those who are novice to flying critical tolerances. This update includes a CHALLENGE FLIGHT ADVENTURE PACKAGE and adds a reference list of the flights along with approach/landing procedure tips to the kneeboard (F-10) for you to refer to while in flight. The adventure pack will provide a set of 8 all new challenge flights spanning the globe for the space shuttle re-entry simulation. This package includes an update for FS2002 as well. This package requires my original shuttle package: (NSC.zip) and the version 1.1 update: (NSCUP1.zip) be installed before running this final update.    FS2004 Aircraft: Nick’s Space Shuttle Landing Challenge UPDATE to v1.1 This update addresses the following issues: 1. Landing gear not visible. 2. No landing gear drop handle in the panel. 3. Main gear sinks into runway when rotating to drop nose gear down. 4. Error message when shuttle is started for the first time. 5. Thanks to information from NASA (JPL), this update provides the needed structural integrity changes that will allow this simulation to ride out a bad landing and water ditch the shuttle (no crash bar) IF you land the shuttle using the correct nose flair method AND within the tolerances the structure of the shuttle can handle on impact. This allows the space shuttle in the sim (like the real shuttle) to water ditch and belly land on runway (in an emergency or if improperly landed on the suspension system). 6. Updated visual, touchdown, dust, dirt, gravel, friction sparks, smoke and a complete set of splash and water ditch effects included. Air file, aircraft.cfg and shuttle landing FX by Nick Needham.    FS2004 Aircraft: Nick’s Space Shuttle Landing Challenge Featuring the Space Shuttle Discovery and celebrating NASAs return to space! The space shuttle is returning from orbit and has just completed its transition through 100,000 feet. You are between 80-110 nautical miles from touchdown. Your speed is Mach 3.5 and decelerating quickly as you pass 83,000 feet. Ground control has reported the TAEM guidance auto-landing navigation system and its backup systems have crashed. A critical failure has occurred and there is no time to repair and reboot the ground system before the shuttle will reach the runway glide scope acquisition point. You will have to manually navigate, locate the airfield, pilot and land the space shuttle. Can you do it?? This package includes the Space Shuttle Discovery redesigned using actual NASA-Boeing mechanical/aeronautical engineering data, panel, sounds and landing FX. From Johnson Petersburg (PAPG) to Sitka Rocky Gutierrez (PASI) to Juneau Intl (PAJN) and back to Johnson Petersburg (PAPG). This would have been a perfect example of an IFR exam flight with instructor to see if you could navigate; handle the winds and thermals between the mountains; stay on coarse with autopilot disconnected and do three very difficult approaches from the LDA Approach Plates on your lap especially if you do a one engine take off or landing when doing your CPL exam. All three airports have NDB approaches as well and that could be very VERY interesting if you fly in REAL WEATHER on FS2004 and will practice your pilot skill to the limit.
